O.P. Problem Running Halo Custom Edition
I just tried to play Halo Custom Edition and I get this error:

"A problem occurred initializing Direct3D. Hardware acceleration may be disabled, please run DXDIAG."

I've run dxdiag, done all the tests & they were all successful. I've also googled around and found barely anything. Can anyone help me? :(

Windows XP SP2
Radeon 9600 XT
Omega 2.6.25 (5.4 Catalyst) display drivers

Halo could not correctly initialize the 3D part of DirectX (Direct3D) to display the game. DirectX may be corrupted or video Hardware Acceleration may have to be increased. For more information, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=drx
Microsoft recommendation: This can occur if you are running a utility that forces your video solution to use a particular update rate when you run DirectX games. Examples of utilities like this would include, but are not limited to, PowerStrip, ReForce, NVTweak, NVHardPage, RivaTuner, and Refresh Force. Try to disable these utilities. For more information about how to disable these utilities see the page where you downloaded them. You may also be able to override these utilities by setting a customer update rate for Halo by using the -vidmode command line parameter.

Alright, thanks for that :). I have a feeling the Omega drivers are effing it up somehow, I'm gonna uninstall those & install the official drivers and see if that fixes it...

Excuse the double post. I did a bunch of uninstalling-installing drivers, and still nothing :(

I have a feeling there's an update patch for Halo CE somewhere, but I already have 1.06 for the original Halo... :(

Always glad to help you mate. The problem is due to SP2 and a bunch of cards, as you probably found out. Download an updated binkw32.dll file here, and extract that to your Halo CE folder. While you're at that, get the updated Strings.dll file from T-JY, available right here. Hope that fixes your problems :)
