Hi!

I was invited by messenger to upgrade to the new version so I installed Messenger 7. Then I upgrade the Messenger Plus version I had to 3.54.132. My problem is that when I try to use the custom emoticons I had -opening the panel writing "("  - and click in a custom emoticon in the panel  I get the shortcut for the emoticon and not the real emoticon, just the text.

When I try to configure the emoticons in Messenger I don't see there any of my emoticons. When I go to configure the panels in Plus I don't see there either any of the custom emoticons I had. However, openning the panel through "(" in the conversation window I see them there but I only get the shortcuts, as I mentioned.

Anybody knows what's happening here and what can I do to fix that?

MSNM mainscreen : tools > options > messages...tick "show emoticons" and "show custom emoticons"

When I write "(" in the conversation window the panel with custom emoticons opens as it did before, with all my emoticons there. When I click one, instead of appearing the emoticon image in the conversation window, it appears the shortcut text for the emoticon, so I can't use it. That's what I meant!

Erm... hit 'Send'?

Sending that just sends the shortcut text, not the emoticon. Of course I've tried that. And I also don't understand why my custom emoticons disappeard from the messenger and messenger plus configuration windows for emoticons.

I am having the same problem.  I upgraded to the lastest version of msn 7 and then upgraded messenger plus.  I had hundreds of custom emoticons that worked great in the old plus.  In the new plus the tab still shows all my custom emoticons from before but when I select any just the numbered code comes up and no icon.  Same if I try and send - just the number no picture.  It does this on all of the custom emoticons even they are pictured in the plus menu.  Does anyone out there know how this can be be fixed.  Does the new msn messenger not recognize the old custom emoticons.  They had all been entered individually in all the old versions.  If Messenger plus can see them why can't messenger.  I talked with rp and his problem has not been resolved either.   ...and before anyone suggests it - all thje right things are checked in options about using custom emoticons.   HELP - PLEASE!!!!!!!!

Depending on how many CEs you have, have you tried re-adding them?

That's what I was trying to avoid because there are so many of them.  Since they show and are obviously still there I was hoping for a easier solution!  (hahahaha)   That's my last resort option if nobody out there has any magic!   Geez - I'm even thinking bout going back to 6.2.  Thanks for the reply "R.P."!
