They're CAB files. The reason you can use WinRAR is because it supports RAR, ZIP, CAB, etc.

As for the freezing problems: it'll be becuase Winks and DDPs are Flash animations, as I've said before. If your system is fast enough, you won't notice any real slowdown, but other systems may struggle slightly.
