Alright then.

My problem is that I can't actually run the install program, regardless of whether or not I download the whole install program onto my PC or not.

Whenever I try to run the install program an error flashes up complaining that the program is not a valid Win32 appication (whatever that means).

What do I do to fix this?

Make sure you're downloading from the official site, and turn off any download managers.

I'm having the same problem...did you find something to make it work???  How do you turn off download managers?  I've tried downloading it seven times already.  Only difference is, I don't get any error messages, it just beeps but NOTHING HAPPENS!  I'd love to know how and if you were able to fix it.

some files do get corrupt during a download ,,mauybe try downloading the same file from a ftp  Mirror or elsewhere
