My friend's MSN crashed, then she logged back on and it sayed she was offline (she wasn't in offline mode or anything):

No, she isn't. It's not anything she's doing, her MSN crashed, she quickly re-connected and it did that.

it might be your client which didn't get the update of her connecting, which is probably because of a bug in the msn servers...
try signing in back again, or tell her to change statuses

Did this happen to your friend in other conversations, or just the one with you?
