I never really bothered with tabbed conversations because other alternatives seemed dodgy. But I think the built-in plus! tabbed converstions feature will be good. Nice layout

I was thinking about a quick way to close a window (you may have added a close option in a right-click menu) but here...

Then there could always be the IRC type ctrl+F4

ERM... alt+F4 closes the active window, not the tab, irc included... and that doesn't come from IRC, thats a windows thing.

I think Ctrl + W would close the tab...

Anyway, I probably wont be able to test it because I will be on vacations...
Well...

A new internet cafe is oppening in the place where I go for vacations...

I do have an internet connection but its too slow...

If I go there and save the beta to my usb memory stick?

But the computers there dont have a usb port infront of the computers!
They have it behind them...

alt+f4 closes the active window but ctrl+f4 closes the active tab
Go try mIRC .... open a channel then open a private convo with someone. Try ctrl+f4 .... it will close the private convo. Itll close the channel window too if you try

Please Patch, very important: when you improve the feature with what people said in this thread, consider adding this:

Let us disable the tab scrolling when there are many tabs, so we can have something like this:

Its a interesting topic really.


I first started to see tabbed Instant Messaging conversations in some versions of Gaim. When I had it there it was a great tool. But gaim doesnt support webcam so im stuffed there.


I was just wondering how are you going to show if there is a new instant message that has just come in. Will there be window flashes like windows supports now?

I like the idea though. it will give the person a firefox sorta feel to it. I love it. Great idea Patchou.
I might have seen this in a old msn messenger addin. It didnt work for me. 

is this latest tabs feature going to be customisable?   And last but not least when I used to use gaim I used to get annoyed because you couldnt limit the size of the tabs. So when people had really long msn nicknames it tryed to display all of the nickname. It would be great if it was limited to only 200 pixels wide or 25 characters..
Also talking about characters.. Emocticons.. Will they be displayed in these tabs as well as the MSG Plus color formatting?

Just heard about this new thingie and I gotta agree with lopardo. Making it look like that is in my opinion better as you can see who has sent you a message (flashing) without scrolling horizontally.

I agree. Or maybe another option to show a drop-down list of the open tabs instead of scrolling - scrolling takes too many clicks IMO Anyway you're the one implementing it so your call. And I'm off to watch Dr Who. (This should really good - actully build in to MP! now so it will work properly. )

umm.. i like the feature
but it doesnt look liek it would look good with the thing closed around it.. maybe this would be better.. ?
