to be honest, I don't think this guy has a case...
I think he could onyl sue google over copying HIS copyrighted material.
Same as I couldn't sue someone for stealing stuff from my neighbours.... my neighbour would have to do that himself.
And if this guy would sue google over infringing copyright, they'd just say he can block it using robots.txt...

this is why they have lawyers. So they can find a law that interfears with another law and make a killer look harmless etc.. etc... if you ask me, the hell with copyright. if your looking for fame and glory feed the starving children in africa.

I agree, the joy of loop holes (or however you spell it). There is always a way to do stuff with the law, so yeah, google wont become illegal.

if God forbids, google does become illegal ( which I rlly would be laughing my ass off because of the stupidity of making it illegal.. ) well.. I hope they hand out a lot of warning.. cuz I'd find myself behing bars pretty soon

Its not like google is comiting an actual crime. If it took them that long to find a loophole, Its obviously not anything significant.

Afaik breaking copyright isn't a crime anyway, it's a civil offence.  Two different courts

To be honest this seems to be more some lawyer trying to get attention by saying something controversial like this.  I guess it worked.

And you won't get punished for using Google - it'd be Google liable for archiving copyrighted material.

I'd just like to put this into perspective - if Google falls foul of copyright law, then won't every PC connected to the Internet be subject to the same ruling? After all, they download copyrighted material so the user can view it. And, given you can make pages available offline, doesn't that infringe copyright?

well if the make it iligal [which as said wil most likely not happen] I will always use google no matter what....what would happen to that gtmf page???? think of the page! think of the children
