I just went on deviantART today, and it said that I was a subscriber and my subscription was about to expire.

I can never remember subscribing, so either, someone did it for me, i did it myself but can't remember, or I was on a free trial of some sort.

Does anyone know why I was given a free subscription?

i got that too, i had a free random subscription for this week so maybe you got a random one too

uh well I got a free one for a week. It was possibly that cuz I know a few people have got that too. I guess yours expired

yes i had one too, didnt se anything different so i didnt bother to use it or if something like that

It's completely random, many people get them everyday. It's jsut to show you waht features there are, and to make you at least consider, or buy, a deviantART subscription for longer.

Different things are:
You can have a "friends" list on your deviantART page;
You can see who has recently visited your page;
Advanced journal features, such as being able to put what your mood is, what song you're listening too, in your journals;
You can use HTML in your journals;
No Adverts;
Larger Thumbnails;
More thumbnails per page;
deviantART Mobile;
Faster Surfing;
Private Forums;
Beta Testing.

I know about all of these because someone bought me a 3 month subscription.
