If installing them in safe mode doesn't help your problem, have you tried installing the drivers before or after actually inserting the graphics card?
I have a laptop, it was always inserted.. Im trying to do it in safe mode atm.. Ill give u some news in an instant
EDIT : OK, It kinda worked out.. heres what happend
I went nto Safe mode, i couldnt install the driver either.. so I uninstalled the old one.. then restarted.. and it got reinstalled the good way by itself..
