RE: repairing messenger on start up
Start > Run > Regedit
HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Run
If you see an MSNMSGR value in there double click it and make sure it says only this and nothing else:
"C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\msnmsgr.exe"
Then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Run
and delete any MSNMSGR entries in there
Close regedit, and restart
