O.P. DVD-Video in Windows Media Player
Whenever I try to play a DVD-Video in Windows Media Player, it crashes after just a few seconds of playback (Windows Media Player encountered an unexpected error and ...).

I vaguely remember reading that Windows Media Player is not supposed to be able to play DVD-Video, I vaguely remember reading that Windows Media Player is only supposed to be able to play DVD-Video in Windows XP, and I vaguely remember reading about a registry tweak to enable DVD-Video playback in Windows Media Player.

I think I need the registry fix, but I have no real idea.

Help please?

WMP will play DVD as long as a DVD Decoder is installed, which usually gets installed along with ur DVD playback Software.

Well I can see the video (and hear audio) for the few seconds that it works before WMP crashes. VLC can play them fine.

I used to be able to play DVD-Video in Windows Media Player before I fresh installed Windows again. My video card came with WinDVD, but I hadn't installed it when I successfully tried using Windows Media Player.

Go to windows update and download the WMP codecs.

Or go to this codec page.

Or you could try this -> click me.
