O.P. Adding A Password To A USB Memory Key?
I just bought a mem key, and I was wondering if there was a way of putting a password on it so that not everyone can plug it in and have access to the drive.

Any idea on how to do this?

Might be possible by encrypting the files in Windows (Google for a HowTo)

In most cases you can download additional software to put things like that on your usb pen, look into the manual it might tell you if there is and where to get it ;)

Some usb key manufacturers provide software for passwords. Maybe you can find something on your manufacturers site.

you could consider using winzip to encrypt your data too (or winrar/winace for better compression)

Good idea, but that will only encrypt one file right? I would like to encrypt a whole folder..

Nothing in the manual.. I already check.. I also tryed to go on the manufacter site ( http://www.kingston.com ) but that wasn't succesful either.

Smart idea too.. but the problem is, most computer on which I will be using the key do not have winzip installed. :(

depending on the file type, you can encrypt them with the file handler (like ms office documents)

(you can always drag files into your word document and password-protect it afterwards :chrongue:)

I used to have a CMD file that encrypted disks. I might write another one again if you need it, eg can't just use a passworded rar or something
