O.P. Suggestion...Custom Emoticons Only
It's not that I find the default icons ugly, it's just that sometimes when I type, for instance, ":o", I want that to show, not ![[Image: msn_surprised.gif]](http://shoutbox.menthix.net/images/smilies/msn_surprised.gif) .
You're able to turn off all emoticons by default, but I want to have my custom ones one. Would it possible, or is there anything like that already?

Well nothing right on what you said but here is something just to display the "  " and that in the plugin stuffplug
http://www.stuffplug.com it contians many features as well 
it display the shortcut and not the image

'Disable emoticon code replacement' only prevents the emoticons from showing while you are typing a message, it will still show when you send it.
You can use /noicon:
:o =>
/noicon :o => :o |

If the other user has Plus!, you can use the /noicon command . "If freedom is outlawed, only outlaws will have freedom." |

That works by preventing Messenger from substituting the codes for something else, so only you need Plus! |
