Messenger Plus! is not spyware, but it does have adware bundled into it. The only way to install this adware though is if you install it yourself, if you press "I accept" on this page:

The sponsor program does next-to-none damage and is perfectly safe, it adds a few desktop icons, a toolbar and generates popups. If you don't want to install it, then all you have to do is press "I refuse", and the installation will continue...

The Microsoft Anti Spyware issue is being sorted out at the moment.

Sign the petition about this, this is what Patchou an many others have an are trying to get over to microsoft to rewrite there antispyware program,

It is not because a program is called "Anti-Spyware" that it only detects spyware and thus each program it detects must be spyware.

If you read the alert, there is no mention of spyware at all, it says "adware bundler". This is something totally different then spyware.
