I don't know if this happens to anyone else, but when I don't have the main contact list opened and I try to open it by double-clicking the icon in the system tray, it takes about 30 seconds for it to load. Without Plus! installed it takes about 2 seconds.

Try the following;
- Open the Main Messenger Window
- Click on Plus then preferences
- Click on Miscellaneous
- Under Messenger Plus! Automatic Recovery Options from the drop down menu next to "Messenger attach mode" select "Alternate Mode".
After your next system restart does the problem still happen?

If that doesn't work try uninstalling MSN Messenger and Messenger Plus;
- Click Start then Control Panel
- Click Add\Remove Programs
- Follow the uninstallers for both "Messenger Plus" and "MSN Messenger" from the list
- Reboot your computer
- Install MSN Messenger again
- Install Messenger Plus again
