i was wondering whether they was a plugin where if one of your contacts opens a window with you it tells you and same when they close it.

StuffPlug-NG has it. Its not that reliable but it does the trick.

And you quickly learn what's genuine and what's not. I find it more useful to think of it as '<user> may wish to start a conversation with you'.

In fact... TB could use a message like that instead of 'opened a conversation'. Something to consider?
