You shouldn't ;). If you don't know that you need a proxy, you don't enter anything.

There are public HTTP proxy servers, which advertise themselves as giving you anonimity, but using them means that they are aware of all you browsing. Most are also often crashing and/or overloading, and will just give you unreliable connectivity and be a hassle when problems arise anywhere in your web browsing.

Just figured it out and scrapped it 30 mins or so back :P
Thanks anyway. But i still dont know how to setup a proxy on msn .... i thought it posted that ..... Well then here's the question

Can public (free) proxies be used on msn and how (not that i wanna use em but just the knowledge would be good)
What should we enter in the username and password locations ?

There are bound to be public proxy servers use with MSN Messenger, but I dont know of any. If the server requires authentication, then whoever is making the server available will let you know of the correct username and password, or you would leave those fields blank.

PS reread your last post in this thread, the quote is messed up ;).

RE: Proxies
If you want some anonimity (or just a way to get around a very restrictive firewall), go for Tor. Just set it up and then configure whatever you want to use a Socks4/4a/5 proxy at 127.0.0.1 (if you put in localhost it might not work) on port 9050.

PS: If you don't like that ugly console window, check out TorCP.
