There is another problem i have thought about. Will Microsoft file law suits against the name. They did once apon a time with e-messenger because of using their copyright.

Do you think they may play this card again?

I doubt they can, it's just like using the name Messenger, Live isn't a copyrighted name, whereas MSN is.

Do you guys remember the poll in September about the future of Messenger Plus! ? I think WLM8 gave Patchou new possibilities for cool features which weren't possible in MSNMsgr. So, in fact, we have to thank Microsoft... (never thought I ever would say that)

Go for it, Patch! Impress us once again!

They "sued" the guy who made e-messenger because it was called "everywhere-msn", and the URL was "everywhere-msn". Messenger Plus! Live is not very different from Messenger Plus!, which is already a registered trademark of Patchou -- I don't think there would be any problem (especially considering it's not called Windows Live Messenger Plus!)

But it's Windows Live that is copyrighted, Not live as a word, if I made something called traxor live, they couldn't sue me. It it was Windows Live Messenger Plus!, they could, because it contains the word windows.

As I said earlier, it is MSN Messenger, but they can't copyright the word Messenger, otherwise there wouldn't be Yahoo Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger etc.

You can't copyright a word. Period.

You get a trademark on a word, two totally different things.

Anyway, Patchou won't have to worry about the name, because as was stated, it is two commonly used words.

Great News! Btw I think it's just good to keep the name unchanged. So Messenger Plus! 4.00 would be good and it won't have any legal issues.
