I don't know if its me, but i read the readme for this new patch that is out.. and i dont see anything about it but if you upgrade to this new version are u supposed to lose all your renamed contacts because it seems as the database is gone on my pc since i updated.

using MSN Messenger v7.5.0311 upgrading from: msn plus 3.61.145 on windows xp

what patch? do you mean messenger plus! ? I think you do because yours is outdated, the latest is 3.62...

why would you lose the contact names if you upgrade plus! ? I guarentee you wont

the reason im asking is because i updated on my Messenger Plus to the newest version on my other comp and now it just shows all my contacts by email address.. is there anyway to back this data up?

Just turn the Custom Names back on.
