i was playing my ps2 today and all of a sudden the music stopped in the game. it was working fine before. i thought nothing of it. the game started to load really slow so i reset teh console. now the discs dont get recognised and the disc tray/disc rattles. its not a loud rattle its quite quiet. also the disc tray takes time to open and close
ive had problems before and i have replaced the laser (2 years ago) and replaced the laser arm (1 year ago)
does anybody know whats going/how to fix?

nothing knocked or banged on the console

The disk tray probably somehow got out of alignment... It's a common problem with the old PS2's... I'm not sure how to fix it but Iknow there's a way... I just got a new thin PS2 instead... those don't have a disk tray... they have a flap that flaps up...

It's nice cause with my old one it started scratching the disks... Now the new one doesn't!

hmm, but how could be knocked out of line while it was playing a game?!

Get a slimline one...

We did after i took mine apart...

But im having problems with mine recently it doesnt load games properly. we had ultimate spiderman.. and it would'nt load, it just would freeze, and then load, and would play again. It would only load certian parts of the city...

So we took it back got a new one, and it did the same, so we got something else instead..

mm O_o..I have a Ps2 ..and nothing of problems ( My ps2 have 2/3/4 years )

the solution is.., sell that Ps2, and buy other ....nothing more, that is my solution when i have the Ps1 , you ps2 have many problems

your Ps2 is old ?...that problem is normal in Ps2 olds..so so

mmm damn..i reset all..well, i tell you something, i dont know if the problems happen in your country, well.., in my country, something of peoples, buy the ps2 originals, and later, that person goes to a other person,for broken the segurity ( for the ps2 "play" games original and games falses), but..that person changes the pieces of the ps2 by pieces falses, and that cause problems in the ps2 ( load slow,etc,etc)..

probably you are a victim of that..i dont know.., the other problems..is a cause of the cd/game

Oh i think you mean chipping it so they can play copied games, yea, mine has never tampered with or anything...

exactly

well, i dont want to sell it, cos its chipped and i wont get enough money for it.
also the chip has been in my console for 3 years and it only affected the laser.
im gonna open it tommorow and check the disc tray
