I stupidly ran a program called WinsockXPFix, selected "registry backup" and then selected My Documents for the registry file to be saved to. What I was suppost to do was include the file it it like so...

C:\Documents and Settings\Chris L\Documents\file.reg

But I just put...

C:\Documents and Settings\Chris L\Documents\

Note: I renamed 'My Documents' to 'Documents'

So it overwrited all my files in My Documents!

I tried system restore but forgot that it doesn't do anything with personal files!

Is there any way I can get all my pictures, music, and hard work back!?

How about searching for something you had in in My Documents using Start > Find and see what it brings up

system restore got me back a folder so it could work

But he tried already, so its useless

Btw, is your connection fixed? Rather than running that WinsockXPFix thing, try the command i posted in your thread.

I tried it, didn't do anything. I posted on an NTL website and it seems I have to call out an engineer! Thanks anyway.

You may want to look for reviews of that program on the internet, because i just got it from searching. But from what i saw it looked quite good.
