If you no anything about electronics you could jimie rig something, besides that your just going to need to get new speakers. Sory couldn't be more help

r u using onboard sound or a soundcard?

I'm not a expert or anything,
But it could be a little resistor has blown up and when your try and boost up the Db (volume) it has to much cutting the power.
I'll ask my dad as he's a hi fi freak

EDIT: He said that it is probally to do with the sound card beacuse there might be a shortge in the sound card so when it try's to send more power it just cuts them off (switches off)
I've probaly explained that wrong

EDIT AGAIN: This happens to me on my power amp it like sorts of crackles turns off then comes back on, usually because it is either damp hasnt been used enough, or too much. Solve by going up and down a lot (if you have a external power switch) and it should resolve itself

im using a soundcard, but i have onboard to use, but becuase of my mobo layout, its impossible to access the stereo port without cutting a piece of metal from the back of my case

@ Msg Plus Freak: your saying that all i have to do is keep turning my volume and down and that should solve it?

Try it, worked for me!!! I said to do that if it is a external one , and try the other options

Here this has happend to me. Either try and push your speaker cords in tighter . or get new cords. or sometimes if the cord get twisted the connections get lose so twist the cord and it might work not a 100% sure tho..Atleast try

To me it sounds like a faulty pot in the speaker volume control, or a loose conection where the pot connects to the pcb or the rest of the speaker's internals.

Well, if the speakers have no guarranty, you may try opening the one with the volume control, check for the potenciometer (not sure if spelled that way...its the thing in which the volume knob turns), see if its broken or any loose contacts, sometimes with all the turning and pushing they get loose, and therefore it stops, when you turn the knob again, it gets a good contact again and its fixed...If you dont know how to repair it(if thats the problem), go to a technician, its not that expensive..
Tell me, is this problem constant, random, or only happens when you do a certain thing?

the problem is consistent, and its starting to get worse. i might get some new speakers. i have had these ones for 4 years
