So how about using a new folder with "My" removed?
Although I personally don't like the "my" prefix either, Messenger Plus! Live (and Windows Live Messenger) is designed and aimed for XP users, not for Vista (although Plus! might partially be compatible with Vista). Since Plus! (and other professional programs) must follow standards as much as possible, the prefix will not be removed as it is there in XP by default.
If each program was doing what it wanted it would soon be chaos on your PC.
If a Vista version is released of Plus!, I'm sure that it will again follow Vista's standards, meaning no prefix. But until that time the prefix will be there...
(As said, you can change the folder's name from the default to your custom one at any time)
Note: no suggestion is too small for not suggesting it....
