O.P. Desktop problem [FIXED]
Well, my computer just got infested of spyware/adware/malware. I won't go on details on how it got into my computer but now the problem is my desktop: now my icons aren't transparent!
I rebooted my computer, checked viruses, adware/malware/spyware and now it's supposed to be clean, but still can't fix it. Any thoughts?

RE: Desktop problem
If you use Windows XP-
Right-click on the Desktop>Arrange Icons By>Lock Desktop Icons/Web Items on Desktop. Untick the option to make them transparent.

This should solve your problem.

Edit: it is not called transparent.

RE: Desktop problem
Well if you are using somekind of tweak XP, that would be causing this problem.

I experienced once the same thing on of my pcs, and at that time, there was a tweak xp installed and it has modified the desktop icons.

regards

Desktop icons and icon labels may not display background transparency or the drop shadow effect in Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP
quote:
When you try to display icons and icon labels that have a transparent background or a drop-shadow effect, the backgrounds of the icon and of the desktop text is the same as the background color that is set in the Advanced Appearance dialog box in Display Properties.

My guess: you have web content on your desktop

right click> properties
desktop tab
[customise desktop]
web tab
uncheck all items.
ok, ok, should be back to normal.
