A few days ago I downloaded the Windows Live Beta, and didn't like it, so I removed it with Add/Remove programs. However, the sound on normal MSN Messenger now doesn't work, for example when someone starts a conversation I don't here the sound. Also, there is no sound when I am nudged. I don't know how to fix it - all the sound options say that sound is on.

Go to:

Start > Control Panel

Then double-click "Sounds and Audio Devices", press the "Sound" tab, then scroll down until you get to "Messenger" or "MSN Messenger" or something. Then highlight each one and browse to C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\ and choose each sound in the list.

I have a similair problem I got my windows messenger sounds working as explaned above

but I can not select new sounds for msn messenger



There is no ability to browse it wont alow me

I made a new account on the same PC and there it seems to be fine, also tried to copy those files to my current account but didnt solve the sound issue. I think it might be profile related.
