Personally i don't object to logging employees at times they should work. However, please notify your employees that chat will be logged. It's just not right to go and read somebody's private chats. If they are warned about logging they will also stop talking about private things during work times which will make them work more effective too
.
To enable logging and make sure logging stays on:
- Let the employee log in to his MSN adress.
- Go to Plus! > Preferences > Logging.
- Set the logging directory, put it on a netwrok share/drive if you wish.
- Check "Automatically log all my chats by default".
- Set other logging options as you like them.
- Go to Plus! > Preferences > Logging > Passwords.
- Check "Enable preferences lock-down" and set a password for it.
- Press "OK" and you're done.
The employee will now have all his chats logged and he/she won't be able to make changes to the preferences panel anymore without the password.
But, the employee can still open up a chatwindow, go to the Plus! menu and simply uncheck "
Log this chat". Which enables them to nog log the chat in that window. Plus! is just not really designed for this kind of situations, i'll suggest to use another program for real chat monitoring.
