This new version features a Plus! chat log viewer, Plus! nick name formatter, real MSN style alerts, speech alerts, conversation opening/shutting alerts, built in alarm clock, translations to about 4 languages completely and about 8 partially, uninstaller, massive stability improvements, improved installer, improved crash reporting tool, MSN 5 compatability, and a few things I've probably forgotten.

uhm i was just wonderin IF you can make bettername a program by itself like before?

GFD: Does this happen at the start, or only when you click on the conversation open notifications? Can you also please tell me what version of MSN and OS you are using, including if you have applied MSN5fix.

3ni: Yes I can, I have kept the code fairly separate. Whether I will or not depends on how many people want it.

ummmm, last version i had was trying 2 connect 2 ur hotmailstuff server, y dus it do th@?

Checking for updates.
It will only ever connect to http://www.hotmailstuff.com/update a maximum of once per day, and only download about 25 bytes max, and will not send any data about you, your program or anything else.

On some systems a connection may be made to http://www.hotmailstuff.com/download/* to download updates and required files, but this will happen only for new versions or at installation.

BetterMSN is 100% open source, so there is no need to take my word for it, have a look at the source code: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/*c...nt-type=text/plain and look for the function CheckUpdate.
