I've just checked the Preferences again, and there isn't an Archive option, so it won't move logs into an Archive folder like Plus! 3. In that respect you're actually correct.

I have been trying to discuss this intelligently so that Patchou will see it and say, hey, I did forget to add this. However, the topic is about a chat log converter and the ambiguity that exists in MsgPlusLive regarding logging.

Maybe someone can write a little utility to do this, until it's added to Plus! (if it is)?

I'd like to convert all my old text logs in xml...

The only real issue is knowing where to insert the HTML tags to get the logs looking right, and the fact than emoticons won't be shown as a picture.

I want actually the reverse, that is, convert my HTML-chatlogs and XML-eventlogs to plain text like in MP!3 - and, please not archived... I am not keen on the new archiving system in MP!L.
Shouldn't be difficult to do...

(I like to have both a HTML-file and a TXT-file for the logs...)

Well, regardless of the end format, a converter should have been made.

If you change the previous txt logs to html, you'll have like a 500MB folder, just for chat logs...now you wouldnt want that, would ya?

well that depends. my past month's chatlogs using mp!l have been under 10 megs. I have around 31 months of chatlogs with me thus around 300 megs. PIty I deleted all my other chatlogs on my old email

Wow, that large? What the heck is the new XML format storing? Is it storing a copy of every emoticon used, seperately, for each conversation with each user? I've got 40-45 megabytes of TXT in my Messenger Plus log files for the past several years.

The html format is really nice to see, but it uses much more space than txt logs.

Just an opinion, each one decides what's best for oneself. It's good to have both options.
