I am running Windows Live Messenger 8.0.0787.00

I am also running the a-patch, I find that it does more for me.

I want to us MsnPlusLive for the email feature. When I install it, everything works fine. I try and setup the email accounts, and click ok. Windows Live messenger will crash untill I uninstall MsnPlusLive.

I have never had a problem with MsnPlusLive before, any ideas?

Try without a-patch and see if WLM still crashes then (i.o.w. repair WLM). If it does it's Plus!Live at fault..if not then it's a-patch. If it's a-patch then you can try unpatching some things to find out exactly what in a-patch is causing this behaviour.

I tryed that in the first place, I just installed MsnPlusLive, and it still didn't work..

Any other ideas?

make sure your running 8.0.0792 WLM8 also

I am not running that version. Where can I find it?

*edit, installed the lastest version of WLM8, and installed latest of MsnPlus and still crashes after setting up the email settings in MsnPlus....

What type of e-mail accounts are they? Domain names especially. I've heard this problem happens when people have GMail accounts set up.

Edit: Quick thought, as GMail uses SSL - do any of your accounts use this? If so, how many?

How do I know if my accounts use SSL?

I want to setup 2 gmail accounts....

Gmail: Help Center - Configuring other mail clients mentions all settings including that it needs SSL.

You can add more by clicking on "Add" in Plus > Preferences > General > E-mail accounts

I still don't see how setting this up wrong could crash WLM though...

I checked that box, didn't work either....


anymore ideas....I think I may be screwed...
