Very simple script.
Something that helps me out, and may help you out in the future.


This script will return a small portion of information on a Wikipedia article (If the page has been created, and if it has a Talk/Discussion page). Very simple, yet effective.

This was made with the help of J-Thread and SilentDragon, in various places.

Syntax:

!wiki article

will send a message, looking like:

Wikipedia's entry on article is located at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/article

This article exists.
Talk/Discussion page exists. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:article)


It will say that it doesn't exist if it.. well, doesn't exist.

Nice idea, but a few suggestions:

Use wikipedia's search function and returning the first result instead of just appending the query.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Search?search= + query

If you don't decide to do that, at least replace spaces with underscores in the query. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord_of_the_rings exists, but "!wiki lord of the rings" says it doesn't.

i tried: !wiki final fantasy, link returned: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/final fantasy

make spaces count as %20
edit: or maybe as an undercore ( _ )

Underscores would be better to remove unnecessary forwarding.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/final%20fantasy redirects to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/final_fantasy

Well, I leave that up to you.

I don't have time apart from my game and mods to work on these, it was something I made to help me out.

Modified to use the (English) Wikipedia search function.
Changed the output too.
