hi: i would like to know if anyone knows where does the msn store by default the smiles i save direct from de msn window.

They are stored here: C:\Documents and Settings\Your User\Application Data\Msn Messenger\Your User ID\CustomEmoticons.

Where it says "Your user", that's the name of your user account on Windows, so mine would be C:\Documents and Settings\traxor.

Your User ID would be your passport.net address.

i've found the folder, but i only have *.dat  files
where i could find the .gif files?

Windows Live Messenger just rename the files to something random with a .dat extension. They're really in fact PNGs, and you can open them by renaming them (but make sure you rename them back when you're done, or wlm won't be able to use them anymore!)

In that case it's a good idea to copy the DATs elsewhere, then rename them. It's too easy to mess up otherwise.

And animated ones are GIF.
