New WLM/MSN-Based Malware

O.P. New WLM/MSN-Based Malware
This is the first i have seen of this malware, I tried searching, but nothing turned up...

Basically i got an IM saying:

Maybe spyware or malware that affects im clients

once i had one that send a url of a virus

yeah,  it's a virus, where you download the add-on, run it with MSN,  and it will do what it says, but also send out an ad to everyone you open a convo with.  The other thing it does is remove all ads that are sent to you.

Is it im-names? Tell your friend to follow there steps -

  • Close Messenger and Press Alt+Ctrl+Del.
  • Task manager opens up.
  • There go to the process tab.(if you don't find it see points 4 n 5)
  • Right click on any program.(only for point 3)
  • Chose go to process.(only for point 3)
  • Locate the im-svr.exe process.
  • Right click on it.
  • Click on end process tree and not end process.
  • Go to C: program files/im-names and delete the folder.
  • Restart messenger.
