jumper? the ide cable?

ive got a hard drive with windows xp already....  im just running out of room. (so im buying an extra drive)

so what would i have to do for that. plug and play (yn) lol

You just have to set it to slave like Sam said but when you buy it the  manual should reveal all. :P

ok:) i take it you mean set it to slave in the bios? :S im a complete newb with hard drives...

and ram, do i need to access bios for upgrading it? because my computer has a password on the bios and i dont know it :(

No not slave in the bios

^ The little piece on the pins is the jumper....depending on where you put it tells what it is....(what you are trying to get is Slave)

Below is a EXAMPLE...It does not mean these are the ways to set the jumper on your harddrive. This is just a example for a Maxtor harddrive I have.

No, just insert the ram into a slot :)

If it does not work something is wrong, or you got the wrong type of ram.

For example...old PC's use PC100 (well...thats the earliest ram I have used)

if i find specs for my current ram... what things would i need to check are the same so its compatibe :) pc? (dont actually no what any of the letters and stuff mean)

after its recognized by the bios and it winblows boots, youll need to format it :P, its quite easy....
about the password, while your case is open take the battery off for about 10-15 min to reset the bios... you will loose any settings on it tho...
