Go to Tools>Options...>Personal and click on Format Codes...
The background color, text, etc. are configurable if you click on the T-like button.
And oh, by the way, you of course need Messenger Plus! Live installed on your machine ;)

Hope this helps and welcome to our forums :wavespam:

RE: question about nick colors and backgrounds on WLM
The screen name colour and background is quite an easy one to set up.  You just need to go into the normal WLM options an to the right of where you write your nickname there should be a button that says "Format Codes...".  If you click this you will be able to select the colour for your name.  If you then click the T button you will be able to change to a gradient where you pick the two colours, one after the other and you can also select to change the background colours.

You can also insert the colour tags manually either by the old Messenger Plus! 3.xx style or by the following:
[c={colour code}]nick name here[/c] for a single colour text
[c={begining colour code}]nick name here[/c={ending colour code}] for a gradient colour text

[a={colour code}]nick name here[/a] for a single colour background
[a={begining colour code}]nick name here[/a={ending colour code}] for a gradient colour background

you can also use[b]
name[/b] for bold
[i]name[/i] for italicts
[u]name[/u] for underline
[s]name[/s] for strike-through

I hope this helps.  You can also use these tags in a normal conversation.:cheesy:

Or if you wanted to use IRC code, you could use the following
code:

·& = italic

·$?,~ = coloured('?' being text colour, and '~' being background colour.
To get the colour code, just poush ctrl and R in a conversation and then just copy and paste the number where ever you want it(either as text colour or background colour)

·# = bold

·@= underline

In IRC you don't have to end anything like [/b] so, i find it easy to use.

You forgot strike-through in the Plus! format
code:
·' = strike-through
:)

The codes you quoted are internally used by Plus!; They are _not_ the IRC style codes!

Nope they aren't, they are internal identifier codes used in plugins for example. In fact there are no "IRC codes", there are "IRC shortcuts".

eg: CTRL+B for bold, CTRL+K for a color, etc.
See http://old.msgplus.net/help_tutorials.php?tut=multi-format-colors for the complete list.
