My computer did an automatic update the other day and it downloaded 2 hotfix's. Now i know a bit about computers but i've never seen these before and i don't know what to do with them. Because ever since i downloaded them my half life 2 and steam has messed up and the emotions on my msn are all in their shortcut form with no actual picture.
What the hell is going on here and does anyone know a way to get my emotions back without re-installing my messenger.

Please help!

(p.s i have windows live messenger 8.1 with plus then added on)

First of all, WLM 8.1 is not compatible with Plus.
Second, WLM 8.1 is a beta product and is not entirely sound yet.

you might be able to back up your messenger content using one of these, then reinstalling WLM 8.0

It may not work though if you're using 8.1...

First of all, Plus! doesn't works with WLM 8.1 (but Patchou will make and update).
Second -> WLM 8.1 is still beta, with bugs and errors...
So, wait till finals releases of PLus! and WLM!!!

Correct if I'm worng, but I'm affraid you gonna need to come back to 8...

I just realised i have 8.0 with plus

I thought i had installed 8.1 but i installed it on my friendsds the other day cus he wants to test it.

So i just make a backup and re-ijnstall it?

Check if you have "show emoticons" and "show custom emoticons" enabled in tools > options > messages. If they are checked uncheck them..restart messenger...then check the boxes (restart messenger again if need be), now they should show up again.
