I just noticed something very dodgy on my computer. I uninstalled a program and saw this

Can I uninstall Update 5 & 6? Will that affect Update 9? I don't know what to do with them . When i have 9 installed do i need 5 & 6?

Yes it's safe to uninstall Updates 5 & 6. I've done this recently for the update from 8 -> 9.

Java installs all its files into a separate directory for each update, so 1.5 U5 is in jre1.5.0_05 etc.

Yes, you can. However, in the unlikely event that your integrated Java (ie, in Internet Explorer / Firefox, etc) stops working, just repair the Update 9 from Add / Remove.

OK Thank you. just uninstalled 5 & 6. No problems yet. Maybe after next reboot... in 2 or 3 weeks . I need my computer running for few weeks. ALT torrents and stuff .
