O.P. Decrease size of hiberfil.sys?
hiberfil.sys is the file used for hybernation, but what is the point of it being so huge when i'm not using 100% ram? since it stores everything in your ram it doesnt need to be full capacity. So can I decrease its size? and dont suggest disabling hybernation because i use it, even if its not alot.

RE: Decrease size of hiberfil.sys?
Remove one or more of your RAM sticks.
Ok, seriously now, I don't think that it is possible.
I believe that windows allocates hiberfil.sys with the total amount of your RAM, so that if your HDD is out of space, your computer would still be able to hibernate.

Sure it's possible. You already gave him the solution. Remove one of your sticks of ram

Mike's right. It's all or nothing with hiberfil.sys.

It doesnt use it all the time, it only uses it when you want to hibernate (i think), and its only 1GB or so, does it matter?

Disable hibernation. Enable it before you need to hibernate.

Yeah I read that bit. Which is why I said enable it before you need it. Make a shortcut on the desktop to the Power Management Control Panel or something.
If you're using NTFS this shouldn't even take a second as the file will be created sparsely (ie space reserved, but not filled)
