Before I begin I would like to say sorry for opening a thread with 'Block-Checker ' again but thought it was necessary
I have read all the way through the previous block checker thread and found it very useful
the reason why I am creating this thread is because I recently 'fixed' a mates pc, they complained it was slow. When I got there I found, no word of a lie, over 1000 pieces of spyware, malware, viruses and more.
The programs I used on his computer are as follows:
Spybot Search and Destroy
Crap Cleaner
XoftSpy SE
and Zone Labs (firewall and anti-virus to replace McAfee)
> run > msconfig (checked up on start-up items)
I also ran the Disk Defragmenter
but while using XoftSpy I came across this name 'BlockChecker', every time I tried to remove or quarantine it, it crashed the pc and gave me the blue screen of death, and the last line of it was something like 'dumping physical memory'. I panicked and switched the pc off. After switching it back on it is fine, excepted that Block Checker was still there, I left the pc working but with it still there. Two days later I got a phone call saying it wouldn’t boot up, it was the blue screen of death, and it also wouldn’t start in safe mode.
A good friend of mine suggested to press F8 at start-up and select the last configured settings, hopefully it will replace standard windows files. He said this because I could of possibly accidentally un-ticked a windows process. I will try this tomorrow.
But I was wondering if there is anyway of Block Checker to cause this type of problem, since it did when I tried to remove it. O and there was no uninstaller for Block Checker, it did not appear in add/remove programs
If anyone can help me, it would be much appreciated
