I'm really confused, because i clicked 'rename contact' because i wanted to see if it would work, and then it sent me a popup saying if you DO change the name then all emoticons will be disabled on your contactlist so i was like ok i'll try and then it all screwed up and i don't know how to change it back...PLEASE help!

Delete the contact the add it again

try deleting the custom name for that contact...

thankyou, i've tried both but it still doesn't work. I mean, ALL my contacts' emoticons have been removed. It's really aggravating. Thanks a lot for your help though.

Did you use A-Patch, or was your just changing some settings within Messenger? I know A-Patch has this feature .

According to this behaviour, I conclude your using Messenger Plus! 3 with MSN Messenger 7.5, right? If not, please include your Plus!, Messenger and Windows versions in your post. You can get these by sending "(!VER)" to a contact in any conversation, when Plus! is active.

Custom names in Plus! 3 can be hidden by changing the view mode in your contact list. Therefore, you go to the menu "Contacts" > "Show contacts with" > "Nickname". (or something like that, I don't have MSN Messenger 7.5 anymore) This will set the view mode back to default, with the nickname of the contact.

Yes, i am using Messanger 3! with messanger 7.5.
