latest is  Windows Live messenger, Stable one is 8.0, unstable one is 8.1 , the latest MSN messenger for Windows XP is 7.5.0xxx, to get WLM8 click on the link from Dazz's post or to get 7.5 go to Updated URL for MSN Messenger 7.5

if it wasnt. how come its still listed on the Microsoft Download Cener as being the most recent? ,, thats ffor the 7.5.xxxx series.

You can even find older builds of WLMsgr 8 on Microsoft Download Center. Microsoft has lots of harddisk space (don't forget, microsoft is too rich, they don't know where to spend their money on) to store older builds, and they tend to ignore them or probably forget that there's the presence of older builds listed in the most recent, or there's another possiblity, they only look at the version number and ignore the build number and smply leave all of them there in the "most recent" list, hence, you can find older builds there.

i didnt Google it. i just went straight to microsofts website an up it showed in ' More Downloads " in Download Center section,

Edit Press the issue with Microsoft, not to show the older builds ,

The version number that you linked was 7.5.0306, latest is 7.5.0324.
