Windows Live Messenger changed skinning really. It's much harder now and key people in the skinning world like Jamach who made installers has moved on in life. You can read more about Windows Live Messenger skinning changes here.

Sorry I'm new but have just been looking through those and I don't think any of the Screenshot links on the first post work... is there anywhere else I can see what these skins look like?

Because now a lot of people use Windows Live Messenger ( MSN Messenger 8.0 ). And look at my edit.
