I think he meansd have the inverted colour emoticons in your name (like what happens when you highlight them) and then when you highlight the inverted emoticons, they re-invert and turn back to yellow?

nah, I think he means putting some special character in your PSM, so that when other people select your nick in their contact list, they get a yellow layer over their screen... something like what the reverse character did, but different.

I still have no idea what he meant, can you explain a little clearer?

I am thinking this as well after looking at the second screenshot

I don't know if them screenshots are your screen, but have you tried copying the characters from your friends PSM to yours?

Probably a stupid question

Neat trick if it works though.
