O.P. Vista Productkey?
Hi,

I downloaded Vista from my school (every student may download a free copy) but there are no keys provided. However I sent a mail for a key which is what we have to do I think.
But when I boot up the cd's Vista says i'm not obligated to enter a key, but then i'll have a chance to loose data...? Activation code is for after the installation.

Can I enter the productkey afterwards? Just like the activation key? So I can already install Vista, as the key will take a day or 2.

Tnx in advance
But that is my opinion!

RE: Vista Productkey?
When installing Vista it is optional to enter a product key during setup.

The product key determines which edition of Vista you are licensed to install. When you don't specify a product key you are given the choice of which edition of Vista to install however when you go to enter your product key (after the 30 day "trial") you can only enter the product key which is associated with your installed copy.

For example, you cannot chose to install Ultimate and then attempt to use a product key for Home Basic. It won't be accepted.

You won't lose any data - you're given the chance to specify your product key when you do the activation process.

Hope that helps,

Chris

RE: Vista Productkey?
Even though the key is optional, MSDN gives you your key. Otherwise your copy will work for 30 days only. (at least with XP the key was given).

Check it better or ask for MS support.
