Well, I hate having a small workspace on my screen, and I like things on the computer really small.  But, my sister can't read worth shit when things are small.  We share a computer, but have separate accounts on the computer, is there any way I can have a higher resolution for my account and keep it at 1024x768 on hers?

This isnt possible AFAIK.

He is right though.  There is no way to have the settings differ, they are even used in the login screen.  The only way for something to be able to be done is if some decent programmer wrote something to change your screen resolution on sign-in and sign-out of your account.

Best resolution I can think of is to have it at the higher resolution but make the text larger (there is an option for it in the display properties if I remember rightly) or to get your sister some glasses.  She will get used to it quickly anyway.

Hmm, alright.  All I wanted to know.

if you know where the stuff is stored and how to edit it and also what to make it then yea its probably not too hard but its finding all that...

also i dont think you could do it on sign out

you can do this with ultramon, install it then right click on the tray icon click shortcuts => create shortcut then it will come up with a wizard
select a random program to start (just use ping.exe)  then
hit next on the "Window Settings" screen and on the display settings screen tick "use custom settings" change the resolution and untick "Restore original display settings when application exists" then
hit next tick "launch this shortcut after logging in" and hit finish

I thought you could also do this if you have nView Desktop Manager

You can do the same thing with

Right click > Display Profiles > New Display Profile > Set it up > Next > Check "Apply this display profile while logging on."

Just saves you from running ping.exe on logon
