I was in my mates car the other day and he showed me these '3D mp3's' he has, they selected the speaker automatically so no matter how loud you blasted it up, you couldn't possibly blow the speaker.
He can't remember where he found them, but he did say there was very few of them.
He played britney's toxic and beastie boys.
Not my kind of music but if anyone knows where to find them let me know, it sounds awsome.

I wish 5.1 / 7.1 was more standardised

Yeah, well, more people seem to have 2.0/2.1 (that includes me).

Hopefully (for you) iTunes might attend to that task and give you a choice whether you want 5/7/2.1 versions of the song you're buying.


I highly doubt that though for multiple reasons other people may or may not post.

Does MP3 do 5.1? I thought MP3 only did stereo, not even 2.1.

Where can i get 5.1 channel mp3's then? I have a 6.1 Speaker setup, but i don't think thats what they were. They were somthing special.

Yeah, I know 50 cent do some surround sound mp3's I was listening to it the other day

http://www.iis.fraunhofer.de/fhg/iis/EN/bf/amm/mp3sur/downld/index.jsp has examples and software that can play it. But I'm not so sure regular car audio/MP3 players support it.
