OK I've lost control to my visual display on my laptop. I think I'm in the welcome screen right now (I've pressed CTRL + Windows) and I need some easy steps for me to shut down my laptop. Thanks a heap to whoever helps .

I'm using a desktop right now.

Take the battery out and unplug it

Try holding the power button on your laptop for a few seconds to make it hard shutdown or remove the battery and unplug it.

I ideally need a command, I can't risk taking the battery out, and holding the power button down does not work .

What I done was, I was messing with Intel's TV out, so the screen went out, and it never came up on my TV. And now I've got no visual display, but I know how to get it back, but without the ability to see anything going to be near impossible. Stupid Intel have made a very user unfriendly software here.

Edit: Done it, with the right search terms, and cross referencing, I found a way to do it. I found the command to start run, then I entered 'SHUTDOWN -s -t 01' to shutdown XP. Now I need to get my screen back .

Erm I suppose I could write up a batch file - if that would help...

Does Safe mode enable display?



BTW: It could just be the backlight... Use FN and whatever f<number> to enable it.

Happens to my old old old old panasonic laptop

Some laptops I know have a keyboard F key to change the output -  have a look for the documentation of your laptops model and see if there is one assigned.
