I'm new here and I would like to know if there is a way to know who set their msn status as offline in MSN Live Messenger 8.1.

I don't know if a block checker addons can tell you that...

Block checkers no longer work and will most likely never ever work again.

There is currently no way to know if someone is set to appear offline without them telling you.

Well, unless you get their IP.
I stole all my contact's IP's, then I can simply check to see if they really are online or not.

There are a few problems with that still:

• The person may have a high speed internet connection which never disconnects making you think they are still online.
  
• The person may be on the internet, but not on WLM
  
• The person may have a dynamic ip. That may lead you to thinking that the person is online, but instead it might be someone else that is online
  
• There are a many more reasons why this will not work, but there is still that off chance that it may work(highly unlikely though)

Well... if ya put it that way.
hahahahahaha

this is the method i've used for a while it isn't fool proof it works a bit

download hopper live
then download convo notifier
then toast them as many time as u can
and if convo notifier responds they are on line if they are not online nothing happens

also
there is a more accurate way of doing the ip ping thing that was mentioned above, of course routers and circurmtances prevent this most of the time atm but it used to work when no one had routers or firewalls.
but u still needed their ip

you use a port scanner and thers a port msn runs on it's like port 8090 or something and if it's alive they are signed in it works better than just pinging the ip address
