I have downloaded Windows Live Messenger 8.5 (the latest version) but i had to download it in spanish because for some reason, this laptop i'm on won't let me install the english version. It's really annoying. The spanish version is fine but i can't understand a thing, lol. 

Can someone please give me some easy to follow step by step instructions on how to change the language to english. I know how to download an english torrent for it but i've tried everything and the language is still spanish. Plz, someone help me.

It just downloads and installs the english version. It won't work on this laptop, only other languages such as spanish will.

Just a question, did you download the leaked version of Messenger 8.5 when it happened? that could be part of the problem

I downloaded the full version, not the leaked one.

Un-install and try again, it should be fine.

same happened to me. i mean all the publicity appears in russian and i dont know a lot. it says like hoboe ha msn and all tht stuff...

i can handle spanish or french also portugues or italian but russian?

So when you mention 8.5 is that the new BEta version 2009? I have just downloaded it and it is French! Dont mind but CAN you change the languages on it?
I must say i am impressed with it

8.5 is the latest stable release of WLM

WLM Beta 2009 is the beta version of the new version of WLM (known as WLM 9 and WLM 14)

I think there are some restrictions on the language that can be used depending on the language of your computer.

You can't change the language of Messenger itself once it has been installed, however you may be able to install a different language version if you first add that language on your computer.

Messenger Plus (the add-on) does have the ability to change language once it is installed, but these changes only apply to Messenger Plus windows and menus, not Messenger itself
