Do you have an nVIDIA gfx card?
In such case, I recommend trying to install the driver again. Or remove it, then install it.
I don't know why CS won't connect, sorry.

Hmm, something similar hapened to me once.

When you get the black screen and mouse pointer, can you use ctrl+alt+del to bring up the task manager?

If so, is Explorer running? If it isn't, start it using file>new task and see if that helps. If it already is running, kill the task and restart it.

This worked time for me but I haven't a clue what the problem was, so it could be worth a try...
;p

Cast Esuna, of course.

A friend of mine has a theory. A few days after being given an iPod, his stereo stopped working. It seems everything from electronics to software can experience jealousy. How about that?!

Is CS working now? What is CS, btw?
was put impeccably into words at DebianDay for me last Saturday, by Knut Yrvin of Trolltech - adults try something once, fail, and then are like "ffs this doesn't work". Children try, fail, and then try again, and succeed - maybe on the second, or even fifth retry. But the thing is that they keep at it and overcome the problems in the end.
