O.P. [Help Please] MSN Making Computer Restart?
If someone could really really help me as i use msn like everyone else daily, and its one of those things now i cant live without!

Down to the problem: I've had windows live messenger for about 2 years on this computer, and yestoday i typed in my email & password > MSN LOADS UP ...... Contacts show ...... *Restarts*

What have i tried? : Well the obvious, Uninstalling msn, completly deleting it, re-installing i then downloaded the extension version, and i am getting the same problems.

i would be really really REALLLY greatful if someone can help me here

Thank you in advance :);)

I dunno where you got your Windows Live messenger from but...extension version??? You should download WLMsgr 8.1 from http://get.live.com/messenger

- Which version are you using and which OS?
- Any add-ons, patches etc.?

As this sounds like a virus:
- Have you done an AV scan in safe mode yet?
- Checked for any unknown program(s) in add/remove software?
- Ran anti ad/spyware program?

My guess (this is not a typical problem) would be that your Windows installation is somehow damaged or that you have bad hardware.  Does it ever restart when you do anything else?

I'd suggest that you start by turning off the "restart automatically" option to see whether you are getting BSODs ("blue screens of death") and what they say.  On the hardware front, you can download and run Memtest86.

Ultimately, unless you find hardware problems, you are probably going to want to re-install Windows.

It happened to me once but other than that one time, my MSN seems to be working.
